بررسی توانایی رنگی پایانه و امکان تغییر رنگ آن توسط برنامهنویس با استفاده از ncurses_init_color(). ncurses باید با استفاده از ncurses_init() پیش از فراخوانی این تابع آغاز شود.

بازگرداندن TRUE اگر برنامهنویس امکان تغییر رنگ دارد و در غیر این صورت FALSE .
